Associate Professor Vidya Navaratnam

Associate Professor Vidya Navaratnam is a Researcher Leader within the Epidemiology and Digital Health Research Group and a Consultant within the Respiratory Department at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital (SCGH).

She undertook a PhD in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) epidemiology with Prof Richard Hubbard at the University of Nottingham and completed a Masters in Epidemiology at the prestigious London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where she was awarded a distinction.

Vidya moved to Australia in 2018 to undertake a NIHR Postdoctoral Research Fellowship with Prof Anne Chang at Menzies School for Health Research. She then completed a two-year clinical fellowship in  Lung Transplantation, Pulmonary Hypertension and Interstitial Lung Disease at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane under the supervision of Prof Peter Hopkins and Prof Daniel Chambers.

In 2023 Vidya joined SCGH, working alongside Prof Fiona Lake in the Interstitial Lung Disease Service.
