Celebrating respiratory researchers on International Women’s Day
This International Women’s Day, the Institute for Respiratory Health, is proud to shine a light on the remarkable work of its respiratory researchers, whose dedication and innovation are making a significant impact in the field of medical science research.
Thanks to the generous support of the Channel 7 Telethon Trust, researchers like Associate Professor Cecilia Prêle and Dr Alice Crawford are at the forefront of life-changing projects that could transform the treatment and care of sick kids and teenagers.
Dr Crawford is developing an innovative tool designed to discover what causes breathlessness in teenagers and young adults. This project could change how respiratory issues are managed in young adults, offering better health outcomes.
And Associate Professor Prêle, in collaboration with Associate Professor Helmy Mulders (The University of Western Australia) and a team of skilled collaborators, has secured funding for cutting-edge equipment aimed at delivering new treatments for childhood diseases.
Associate Professor Prêle said, “Our sincere thanks go to the Channel 7 Telethon Trust for their funding support. In the highly competitive arena of research, it’s the generous support from companies like the channel 7 Telethon Trust that makes it possible for research like this to get off the ground to help change kids’ and teenagers’ lives for the better.”
The Institute for Respiratory Health remains committed to developing a working environment where all researchers can thrive and contribute to its shared goal of improving lung health outcomes for all Western Australians.
